Biography
Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson (born May 16, 1969) is an American conservative political commentator, journalist, and television host. Known for his sharp wit and challenges to mainstream narratives, Carlson hosted the top-rated Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News from 2016 to 2023. After departing Fox, he launched the Tucker Carlson Network (TCN) on X, producing exclusive interviews, documentaries, and commentary.
Born in San Francisco to journalist Dick Carlson (1941–2025) and artist Lisa McNear, Tucker attended Trinity College, graduating in 1991 with a history degree. His career began in print journalism at The Weekly Standard and Esquire, before TV roles on CNN's Crossfire (2000–2005) and MSNBC's Tucker (2005–2008).
Carlson is married to Susan Andrews; they have four children, including son Buckley, named J.D. Vance’s deputy press secretary in 2025. In 2025, Carlson criticized U.S. involvement in Middle East conflicts, including Trump's support for Israeli strikes on Iran, positioning himself against Zionism in Republican circles. He continues to influence conservative discourse through TCN, focusing on free speech, government overreach, and cultural issues.
